We have just submitted a ground-breaking statement to the UN Commission on the Status of Women, together with several other organizations, including The Israel Women’s Network, Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, and the International Council of Jewish Women.
Drawing on Special Representative Pramila Patten’s mission report, the statement presents evidence of sexual violence during the October 7th attacks and calls for an International Protocol on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence. It proposes specific actions to bridge gaps in international law, including guidelines for evidence collection, survivor support, and perpetrators accountability.
The proposal emphasizes the need for a UN Resolution to validate and fund these initiatives, marking a crucial step in combating sexual violence in conflict zones.
