In response to the unique evidentiary challenges posed by October 7th’s sexual atrocities, The Dinah Project has submitted a comprehensive analysis to UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Dr. Alice Edwards.
Our submission presents groundbreaking approaches for documenting and prosecuting conflict-related sexual violence when traditional evidence-gathering methods fall short.
Through innovative methodological tools for evidence collection and a new legal framework for establishing collective responsibility, we address the pressing need to ensure accountability even in cases in which most victims did not survive and evidence collection was severely compromised. This submission represents a crucial step in developing more effective approaches for investigating and prosecuting sexual violence in conflict, particularly in cases where conventional legal frameworks prove insufficient.
